Further Updated Mat Update
about 7 years ago – Tue, Apr 25, 2017 at 04:19:25 PM

Glad everyone is liking the mat update.  Now to answer some of the questions asked and respond to some of the requests made!

Printing was a little "off" on the sample.  Found out that the manufacturer's equipment is undersized, so they were doing the best they could.  They are planning to upgrade their printing capability for us.

Shiny surface.  We are testing it with less shine, but the manufacturer is concerned it could reduce cleanability.

Cleanability.  We have tried it with many colored wet erase markers for days and even weeks.  No problem at all taking it off.  We don't recommend leaving the marker on that long, but the tests are good.

Chemicals.  We have tried the mat with rubbing alcohol, Windex, water, and soapy water.  All seem to work without negatively impacting the mat.  we only recommend water and soapy water, but tests look good with stronger chemical too.

Lines.  We are planning to print with narrower lines in a lighter gray.

Isometric Vertical Lines.  We are searching for a way to lighten up the vertical lines on the isometric side.  No conclusive answer yet, but we are trying.

We will be ordering the mats soon and expect to deliver in June as originally scheduled!

Thank you!

Wet Erase Mat
about 7 years ago – Thu, Apr 13, 2017 at 03:57:57 PM

We have received our first sample mat!

Here is a short video.  Contrary to what I say in the video wet erase works far far better.  Dry erase looked to stain after about two hours.  So very similar to the mats we have all played on before, it works best with wet-erase.

Slightly heavier and thicker than the usual mats.

I really like it.  The only drawback is a slight shine to it, but it is not too bad.

Here is a video, please let me know what you think.

Update on erasable mats and PAX East
about 7 years ago – Wed, Mar 08, 2017 at 06:09:17 PM

We are finally having success sourcing our mats!  I threw the net wider and have several companies sourcing the best possible mats for you.  I expect a stack of samples next week (all the videos and pictures look very promising!).  Once we approve the best one I will place the order.  We are a bit ahead of schedule for our June delivery date, but I would not expect it much sooner.

PAX East!

Come see Gaming Paper at PAX East 2017, at booth #10082.  We will have Gaming Paper Rolls, Gaming Paper Isometric Rolls, Megadungeons, and even a sneak peek at our next Kickstarter in the booth. We are also hosting Michael Epstein, the lead game developer with Copper Frog Games, he will be demonstrating and selling his new game "Pigment".

If you are there, swing on by!

Isometric Erasable Mat Update
over 7 years ago – Tue, Jan 10, 2017 at 09:18:55 PM

I am working with suppliers to find the perfect material for the mats.  Much trial and error.  Because I only want to provide a great product - none of the samples I have received are up to snuff.  If anyone has suggestions for a great dry erase material or coating, I am all ears.  Otherwise, the search continues!

There has been some confusion regarding the ship date of the erasable mats.  We are still on target for a June 2017 ship date.

Thank you again for backing and I can't wait to see your creations!

Shipping!
over 7 years ago – Wed, Dec 14, 2016 at 09:18:04 PM

We've been shipping the last few days.  Monday there were some hiccups, so only a few shipments.  Tuesday fewer hiccups and we sent about 112 shipments.  Today even fewer hiccups, but we had a payment issue (company credit card thought this much postage was fraud!) so - 168.  Explained everything to the credit card company, bugs are worked out and tomorrow should be a big shipping day.

Even with the problems, I expect we will have everything (except the mats) shipped by the middle of next week.

I cannot wait to see what you all do with this paper!  Please send photos, I will share them!

Thank you for your support.
